Arborist – Climber 

Full-time or Part-time 

We are looking for an extremely keen and safety-conscious person to fill this position who has a passion for Arboriculture and wants to learn and excel in the industry. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of production tree climbing experience at a recognized tree service.
  • Current enrollment in an arboriculture program at a recognized college or university (asset), or;
  • Diploma in Arboriculture from a recognized college or university (asset)
  • Chainsaw training or certification.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Capable of performing physically demanding manual labour in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Class G license and clean driver abstract.
  • Knowledge of industry rules and regulations.
  • First Aid/CPR (asset).

Job Duties:

  • Ascend and perform aerial operations to safely and efficiently remove trees of all sizes, including storm and hazard trees.
  • Perform rigging techniques to safely dismantle trees with various targets.
  • Perform proper pruning techniques in trees of all sizes, for clearance, structure, and safety.
  • Operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, stumpers, and other equipment.
  • Perform worksite cleanup.
  • Perform ground support such as, but not limited to, rigging, cutting, brush management, and chipping.
  • Carry out all duties safely and efficiently while following industry standards and company standard operating procedures.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork (timesheets, project logs, project risk assessment forms) accurately and on time.
  • Arrive on time with a professional appearance, positive attitude, and eagerness to work.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Able to help create and maintain a positive and productive team environment and culture.
  • Capable of taking direction and feedback from supervisors and management.

Additional Information:

  • 40-44 hours/week (Depending on weather and season)
  • Work hours are Mon-Thursday 7:00 am – 4:30 pm and Friday 7:00 am – 2:30 pm, however, this might be altered due to weather and season.

Wage: Starting wage based on skill level and experience $22-$30/hr.


Ground Worker

Full-time or Part-time

The ground worker will support the crew from the ground to perform tree care and removals. This individual is a key member of the team and is relied upon to complete projects safely and efficiently. The successful candidate is a reliable, hardworking, analytical thinker who can perform physically demanding work in all types of weather conditions. We are looking for an extremely keen and safety-conscious person to fill this position who has an interest in the Arboriculture Industry and wants to learn more! This is an entry-level role with the opportunity for growth and advancement.

Position Requirements:

  • Capable of performing physically demanding, manual labour in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Able to perform ground support operations such as, but not limited to cutting, brush management, and chipping.
  • Perform rigging techniques to lower wood material from heights.
  • Operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and other equipment.
  • Perform worksite cleanup.
  • Able to carry out all duties safely and efficiently while following the company’s standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely with clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Able to help create and maintain a positive and productive team environment and culture.
  • Capable of taking direction and feedback from supervisors and management.
  • Able to arrive on time with a professional appearance, positive attitude, and eagerness to work.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork (timesheets, project logs, project risk assessment forms) accurately and on time.

Education/Assets:

  • Formal arboriculture training from a recognized college or university (asset)
  • Chainsaw training or certification (asset)
  • Class G license and clean driver abstract
  • First Aid/CPR (asset)
  • Knowledge of industry rules and regulations (asset)

Additional Information

  • Work hours are approximately Mon-Thursday 7:00 am – 4:30 pm and Friday 7:00 am – 2:30 pm – This may vary due to weather and season.

Arboriculture/Urban Forestry Co-op Placement

The Co-op student will work on a production crew. This student will be required to pass a competency test before being involved in tree-climbing activities. The student will have the opportunity to learn from an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, ISA Tree Risk Assessor, and ISA Certified Arborist. We are looking for an extremely keen and safety-conscious person to fill this position who has a passion for Arboriculture and wants to learn and excel in the industry. This is an entry-level role with the opportunity for growth and advancement.

Position Requirements:

  • Capable of performing physically demanding manual labour in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Able to carry out all duties safely and efficiently while following the company’s standard operating procedures (SOP).
