Production Arborist/Crew Leader

The successful candidate will lead a 2–3 person production crew including an Assistant Tree Climber and Groundsperson. This individual will be responsible for organizing and performing tree care and removals. We are looking for an extremely keen and safety conscious person to fill this position who has a passion for Arboriculture and wants to learn and excel in the industry. This individual will be eager to build their knowledge and skills and be committed to Logan Tree Experts.

Position Requirements:

  • Able to arrive on time with a professional appearance, positive attitude, and eagerness to work.
  • Capable of performing physically demanding manual labour in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Able to carry out all duties safely and efficiently while following the company standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely with clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Able to provide direction, feedback, coaching, and mentorship to others.
  • Able to help create and maintain a positive and productive team environment and culture.
  • Capable of taking direction and feedback from supervisors and management.
  • Ability to organize and direct a crew to safely and efficiently complete prescribed work while meeting daily quotas.
  • Skilled in ascending and performing aerial operations to safely and efficiently remove trees of all sizes, including storm and hazard tree removals, while following industry standards.
  • Perform advanced rigging techniques to safely dismantle trees with various targets.
  • Experience removing and pruning trees utilizing cranes and other aerial lifts.
  • Able to properly and efficiently prune trees of all sizes, for clearance, structure, and safety, while following industry standards.
  • Operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, stumpers, and other equipment as per company SOP.
  • Perform worksite cleanup as per SOP.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork (timesheets, project logs, project risk assessment forms) accurately and on time.

Education/Assets:

  • 3+ years experience leading a production crew for a recognized tree service
  • Diploma in Arboriculture from a recognized college or university
  • ISA Certified Arborist or working towards
  • Chainsaw training or certification
  • Class G license and clean driver abstract
  • Knowledge of industry rules and regulations
  • First Aid/CPR

Additional Information:

  • 40-44 hours/week (Depending on weather and season)
  • Work hours are Mon-Thursday 7:00 am – 4:30 pm and Friday 7:00 am – 2:30 pm, however, this might be altered due to weather.

Wage: Starting wage based on experience $24-$28/hr


Assistant Tree Climber (Arborist 2)

The Assistant Tree Climber (Arborist 2) will work on a 2–3-person production crew with a Lead Arborist and Groundsperson. This individual will provide aerial and ground support. We are looking for an extremely keen and safety conscious person to fill this position who has a passion for Arboriculture and wants to learn and excel in the industry. This individual will be eager to build their knowledge and skills and be committed to Logan Tree Experts.

Position Requirements:

  • Able to arrive on time with a professional appearance, positive attitude, and eagerness to work.
  • Capable of performing physically demanding manual labour in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Able to carry out all duties safely and efficiently while following the company standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely with clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Able to help create and maintain a positive and productive team environment and culture.
  • Capable of taking direction and feedback from supervisors and management.
  • Able to perform ground support operations such as, but not limited to, rigging, cutting, brush management, and chipping while following company SOP.
  • Able to ascend and perform aerial operations to safely and efficiently remove trees of all sizes, including storm and hazard trees, while following industry standards and company SOP.
  • Capable of performing rigging techniques to safely dismantle trees with various targets while following company SOP.
  • Perform proper pruning, in trees of all sizes, for clearance, structure, and safety, following industry standards and company SOP.
  • Operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, stumpers, and other equipment as per company SOP.
  • Perform worksite cleanup as per company SOP.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork (timesheets, project logs, project risk assessment forms) accurately and on time.

Education/Assets:

  • At least 1 year of production climbing experience at a recognized tree service
  • Current enrollment in an arboriculture program at a recognized college or university, or
  • Diploma in Arboriculture from a recognized college or university
  • Chainsaw training or certification
  • Class G license and clean driver abstract
  • Knowledge of industry rules and regulations
  • First Aid/CPR (asset)

Additional Information:

Wage: Based on Experience $19-$22/hr


Arboriculture Co-op Placement

The Co-op student will work on a 2-3-person production crew including a Lead Arborist, Assistant Tree Climber, and Groundsman. This student will be required to pass a competency test before being involved in tree climbing activities. The student will have the opportunity to learn from an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, ISA Tree Risk Assessor, and ISA Certified Arborists. We are looking for an extremely keen and safety conscious person to fill this position who has a passion for Arboriculture and wants to learn and excel in the industry. This is an entry-level role with the opportunity for growth and advancement.

Position Requirements:

  • Able to arrive on time with a professional appearance, positive attitude, and eagerness to work.
  • Capable of performing physically demanding manual labour in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Able to carry out all duties safely and efficiently while following the company standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely with clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Able to help create and maintain a positive and productive team environment and culture.
  • Capable of taking direction and feedback from supervisors and management.

Education/Assets:

  • Current enrollment in an Arboriculture program at a recognized college or university

Additional Information:

  • This placement runs from the end of the school semester to August 31st, 2021
  • 40-44 hours/week (Depending on weather and season)

Wage: Based on Experience $17-$19/hr


Groundsperson/ Ground Support

The Groundsperson will work on a 3-person production crew including a Lead Arborist and Assistant Tree Climber. The Groundsperson will support the crew from the ground to perform tree care and removals. This individual is a key member of the team and is relied upon to complete projects safely and efficiently. The successful candidate is a reliable, hardworking, analytical thinker who can perform physically demanding work in all types of weather conditions. We are looking for an extremely keen and safety conscious person to fill this position who has an interest in the Arboriculture Industry and wants to learn more! This is an entry-level role with the opportunity for growth and advancement.

Position Requirements:

  • Able to arrive on time with a professional appearance, positive attitude, and eagerness to work.
  • Capable of performing physically demanding manual labour in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Able to carry out all duties safely and efficiently while following the company standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely with clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Able to help create and maintain a positive and productive team environment and culture.
  • Capable of taking direction and feedback from supervisors and management.

Education/Assets:

  • Formal arboriculture training from a recognized college or university (asset)
